The History
Macnallem Border Collies
Our Beginnings
The start of a lifelong passion.

Harvey
"Supreme Ch. Monochrome Maestro"
Lara
"Grand Ch. Monochrome Prima Donna"
Our journey starts in 1999 when the Butler family (Neale, Linda, Courtney and Mitchell) decided to obtain their first family dog, a Border Collie. They stumbled across a newspaper advertisement for a litter of black and white Border Collies and went to visit the breeders, Wayne and Tricia Nicholls of Monochrome Border Collies. I suppose you could say "the rest is history", but in reality, its only just the beginning.
Monty (soon to be Grand Ch. Monochrome Currencycreek) joined our family a few weeks later on the promise of giving dog showing a go. The bug bit us quickly and the family was hooked! Monty took us on the most wonderful journey in his short 10 years of life. We are forever grateful to Wayne and Tricia for their trust, mentoring and 20 plus years of friendship. Without them there would be no this!
It was not long after Monty came home that Courtney started begging for her own dog to show. Some 3 years later this dream became a reality when Lara (soon to be Grand Ch. Monochrome Prima Donna) joined the family. Lara was (and still is) the sun, moon and stars for Courtney for the next 16 years and cemented the unwavering passion that still exists today.
It is these 6 family members that formed "Macnallem" - Mitchell and Courtney, Neale and Linda, Lara and (e) Monty. The start of our journey will stay with us forever. Every Macnallem is the product of years of thoughtful breeding, endless love, deep devotion and the endless pursuit to breed healthy Border Collies in body and mind.
Thank you to all those who have shared and continue to share this journey with us. Those who have entrusted their dogs to us to live, breeders who have allowed us to use their dogs at stud, those who share their lives with a Macnallem and to our friends in and out of the ring. You make this so much better.
Past Dogs
The beautiful souls that live on in our memories.
Monty
"Gr Ch. Monochrome Currencycreek"
Monty, or Rooney to his friends, was the first pawed member of our family, our introduction to the world of showing, breeding and all things Border Collie.
While he was only on earth for a short 10 years, Monty has left undeniable legacy in his progeny that is still felt today.
Monty was a multi all breeds best in show, multi all breeds runner up best in show, multi best in group winning dog who amassed over 1000 points at 3 years of age. Quite the achievement for a new handler in a highly competitive breed.
He is sorely missed and never forgotten.
Harvey
"Sup Ch. Monochrome Maestro"
Harvey was the ultimate show dog. He lived for the ring, for the ribbon and the applause.
A multi all breeds best in show winner from an early age, Harvey was the first Supreme Champion for Monochrome kennels and I am forever grateful to Wayne and Tricia Nicholls for allowing Harvey to share my bed every weekend and my heart for the rest of time.
As a handler, Harvs took me on the ride of a lifetime. So many of my "firsts" were at the end of his lead and I will simply never forget the look in his eye when he knew we had done well.
Like Monty, Harvey lives on his progeny across the world.
Thank you for the memories, Harvey. You were so special.
Elvis
"Macnallem What An Inheritance"
The one that got away.
Elvis was our first homebred male and captured our hearts entirely within his short life. He was not known by many, he did not become a grand show dog or amazing producer. He was a happy, loving boy who we lost at only 3 months old.
The hardest part is not knowing where the future would have taken us.
No one will ever compare to...
Lara
Grand Ch. Monochrome Prima Donna
Every girl needs a dog that changes everything.
When I am asked where my unwavering passion for the breed comes from the answer is simple... Lara.
Lara, or Larzy to those who loved her, taught me how to groom, how to show, she prompted my love of amazing pedigrees and the pursuit for constant improvement in every aspect of dog ownership.
To write more about this dog would only result in tears that have never really stopped. She was more than words, she was more than just a dog and she is still loved endlessly.
May she rest in eternal peace.

Chanel
"Macnallem Here For A Reason"
The first Macnallem. Chanel has been a loyal, loving and happy dog from day one. She continues to enjoy her senior years with my parents on the Gold Coast.
Vadar
"Ch. Nahrof Turn To The Darkside"
Lovingly dubbed "the friendliest dog in the neighbourhood", Vadar attained his Australian Championship with ease and now enjoys his retirement with my parents on the Gold Coast.
Our eternal thanks to Nahrof Border Collies for entrusting this sweet boy to us. He is so very loved.
Paris
"Macnallem Shake Ya Moneymaker"
Paris is from our second litter and is a bitch of good size and sound quality with a sprinkle of sass and gives the best "human cuddles" ever!
She enjoys her retirement on our lounge where she rules the roost and enjoys sunbaking at any opportunity.

The Future Looks Very Bright
Our current superstars.
After a break from showing and breeding to finish our human family, we are so very excited to introduce Macnallem 2.0 to the world.
Our sincere thanks to those who have been a part of this rebirth, with particular mention to Patrice Smith and Courtney Spencer of Tullaview Kennels for entrusting Remi to our home.
